The River Merrimac Bar & Grille is located in the heart of historic Newburyport (birthplace of the United States Coast Guard) within the restored mill building of The Tannery. The restaurant boasts two floors of casual fine-dining, an extensive menu and wine list, daily specials and fireside seating with views of the Merrimac River leading to Plum Island. Our Full dinner menu and new tavern menu is available on both floors with a large bar upstairs that is open every day of the week. Beautiful bar, excellant food, wonderful service. Extensive wine list compliments their prime sirloin and fresh seafood specials. Had the Island Creek oysters and the pan seared halibut with chorizo risotto, best meal I have had in I don't know how long. Do yourself a favor and try it out, the bar is on the second floor with a great view of the river and surrounding neighborhood. I would give it 6 stars if I could.
